Barrierboard, an Australian-made patent ed plasterboard composite product by Soundblock Solutions, is a soundproofing product suitable for domestic, commer cial and industrial sites.

Barrierboard consists of two sheets of differing thickness separated by an insu lating layer. The sound proof panels are available in two sizes – 2,400 mm x 1,200 mm and 2,700 mm x 1,200 mm. Unlike standard plasterboard panels, the prod uct is rigid, ensuring that no sagging or bowing occurs when it is fixed in place. It can either be directly applied to the wall with adhesives and screws or furring channels placed on the wall, insulation fitted and then the Barrierboard installed.

It can reduce noise levels by up to 75 per cent and is compact and easy to install (around 50 per cent faster than conventional soundproofing systems). The product can be used in conjunction with standard wall systems using a mini mum of additional space to significantly reduce noise levels. Barrierboard is also effective for ceilings.
