Construction will soon begin on the redevelopment of the former Carlton and United Breweries (CUB) site at Broadway, following the approval of the site's $6 million main public park and associated infrastructure.

The approval covers a park that will be almost 6.500 sqm in size; landscaping; paved areas and a water feature and infrastructure around the park including roads, footpaths and new traffic signals.

According to premier, Kristina Keneally, it is the fist time that the space will be open to the public in more than 150 years. Construction of the park and related infrastructure is expected to support 120 jobs, whereas the $1.3 billion CUB development will create 1,200 construction and 6,000 ongoing jobs.

Frasers Property Australia can now begin construction of the main park, called Central Park, subject to further resolution of some park design issues with the City of Sydney council.
